Winter Joggers o.O Really????

WASHINGTON - DECEMBER 19: Jogger Max Lockwood...

Okay, so I'm still not blogging regularly..but I haven't given up. I think about you often and some of the things I'd like to share and then life gets in the way.

I was up very early this morning and I came across some of those hard core runners...you know the ones that jog in any weather - rain, sun, snow storm...

My question is WHY?

Why do you insist on running in bad weather? Why are you out there in the middle of winter? And do you have winter running shoes? How does that work?

I mean I understand the fundamentals of you love to run and it's good for you or addictive or whatever and I get it in the decent weather...I'll even give you the rainy weather, but winter??? Are you all insane?

I've done some crazy things in the name of fitness, but running outside in the winter just ain't one of them. Seriously, I really wanna know about the shoes...you must have to replace them often! And if you're a hard core runner you certainly don't have cheap running shoes.

Can someone enlighten me?

On the Other Side

The Pump Triple BreakImage by DeusXFlorida via Flickr
Good Morning Friends! I just want to take a moment and say thank you. Thank you for sticking by me and my many attempts to get it right in this life. In truth aren't we all just trying to get it right and to better ourselves?

Well, Seasonal Depression made me it's ***** but I'm fighting back and I think I'm winning. I'm still having some great days and some really low days but I'm on the other side and on the way out. I can't wait for the snow to be gone so I can really get moving outside. I want to invest in some outdoor running shoes so I can head outside as soon as possible.

I've discovered that I CAN jog! I've been jogging just around my basement off and on and I've discovered that the real reason I thought I couldn't jog is all in my head. I've been too self-conscious trying to jog in public whether outside or at a gym. So, now that I've done it at home and KNOW what the problem is I'm going to get over myself and just go out jogging! Today I jogged for 26 minutes just back and forth in my basement I didn't have to stop at all and only paused to drink water a couple of times. I'm just so excited to know that I CAN JOG!

I've started tracking calories again with MyFitnessPal.com. I've been doing really well and I've enlisted the help of my husband who doles out my favorite chocolates. I decided since I can't control myself but also don't want to completely deny myself to ask for his help. I have to tell you it's working quite well so far.

Stay strong my friends spring is just around the corner and life gets easier.

Rest Day

Stretch out your winter legs and dress them up...Image by lululemon athletica via Flickr

Today is a rest day! WOOT! See you tomorrow.

Excerpt from 3 Weeks to a 30-Minute Running Habit
Congratulations! You completed your first two runs and you've reached your first rest day. That's right, you're not running today. Give yourself a well-deserved break from exercise. Or, if you have the energy and the motivation, do some cross-training. Go for a hike, ride a bike, or take a yoga class. But whatever you do, make sure you take it easy. Rest days are important to give your running muscles a break and help prevent injury.
